Last weekend I officially was installed to the Board of Directors at the International Nanny Association Conference in Los Angeles. The entire Crunch Care team was there less Grace which we dearly missed. The long weekend was full of exciting educational venues and networking/socializing opportunities and a nice little bonus earthquake as the Crunch Care team enjoyed a night on the town in Beverly Hills.
There were three different educational tracks running at the conference including a Newborn Care Specialist, a Nanny Agency, and Nanny programs. The keynote speakers were Dr. Jenn Berman (a licensed psychotherapist and author of several books including L.A.Times Best Seller SuperBaby: 12 Ways to Give Your Child a Head Start in the First 3 Years of Life (Sterling Publishing, 2009) and The A to Z Guide To Raising Happy Confident Kids (New World Library, April 2007) and Dr. Harvey Karp (best known for Happiest Baby on the Block) who both shared enlightening knowledge that was resourceful in many different way to all of the attendees. There were classes that ranged from managing families that are going through a divorce to the ABC’s of sleep for newborns as well as legal and tax education.
Annually the INA selects a Nanny of the Year which this year was Sheri Lopez. I am quite sure that Sheri will be a guest on our blog in the very near future. She is an active Board Member for the Association and was an absolute pleasure to get to know. With over 32 years of professional nanny experience her knowledge and insight is well recognized in the industry.
As a team we honestly had a wonderful time learning about how others in the industry approach their business to having the opportunity to connect with some of the most motivated and interesting Nannies and Newborn Care Specialists around the country.
Sitting on the Board of Directors will be an exciting opportunity to make an impact on the industry and of course having the experience of shaping standards, credentials, and education. I am excited about what this offers to both our client base and our nannies and caregivers overall. There are people on the Board and affiliated with the INA that have been in the industry for many years that we are thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from.
